Janice Guerrette was nominated for induction to the PHCOEM Hall Of Phame. For the reasons listed below, and probably many more, she has demonstrated the kind of contributions to the club, and Parrot Head attitude, that make up the fabric of an HOP member. First and foremost, she likes Buffett music, easily adapts to the Caribbean lifestyle, and is a big fan of palm trees. In fact, she has a sun setting beyond a palm tree tattoo. Not to mention she is also a big fan of rum! Jan was with the BOD officially for 8 years, and unofficially for 11 years. A member for almost 12 years. She ran the SO dance for the first 4 years the club was involved with it. At the time this was the biggest event (5000 attendees in an arena) we ever held. The first event was a success and it is now an established, smooth running operation. She also helped organize the first event the club ever held, which was at Capone’s in Peabody. As the club grew, and as a new club treasurer, she transitioned the accounting system from paper to electronic. She has also managed the club finances, updated transactions (which could be audited by the state or Feds at any time), and minimized any banking type fees PHCOEM has ever had to pay. In addition to the club account, she has managed finances for the ticket distribution process and misc special events. She assisted in planning the first ever New England Parrot Head Convention. Was co-chair for the 4th NEPHC, and was treasurer for the 10th NEPHC. She assisted in organizing a number of events (probably in excess of 100) over the past 10 years including the holiday party, boat cruise, road rally, and numerous SO events in a variety of locations. Ran our last logo contest. With the other BOD members, helped develop a strategy to grow the club and develop a real parrot head atmosphere. She also started the club merchandise line. When buying this type of merchandise, to make it cost effective, you need to get a lot at one time. Jan personally bought the first $2k of club merchandise and hoped to get her money back. Stored it, sorted it, transported it, sold it at club events and through the newsletter. It is now self funding for the club and there is a variety of stuff available. And perhaps most importantly, after leaving the BOD, she continued to be an active member. Most recently she ran the Jolly Jaunt event for the club. This was a Special Olympics event at a new location, with a different race format, and the role the club played changed. There was more logistical coordination needed than usual. The actual induction occurred at the Holiday Party (1/21/6). Welcome to the Parrot Head Club of Eastern Massachusetts Hall Of Phame Janice! |
