DIRECTIONS:

Take Rte 495 to Exit 35C “Lowell Connector” OR Rte 3 to Exit 30A “Lowell Connector”. Take Exit 5B

“Thorndike Street” off the connector. Continue straight after merging onto Thorndike Street. Turns

onto Dutton St. and brings you right to the Tsongas Arena.

 

April 25th – Charles River Watershed Canoe Race – Waltham – 10am (Parrot Points Awarded)

The Charles River Watershed Association seeks to provide and enhance the health, beauty,

and enjoyment of the Charles River and its tributaries. The Association holds this annual canoe

race to raise finds and community awareness. We will be judges and safety people again this

year at the Moody Street Dam in Waltham. Tailgate party will be right at the Dam in Waltham. Bring your own food and beverages with you. To volunteer or for more information, contact Kathy Werner at (781) 843-2773 or socialfins@yahoo.com.

DIRECTIONS:

Rte 128 to Exit 26 “Rte 20 East” follow Rte 20 about 2 miles. In the center of Waltham, turn right onto

Moody Street. Please park in the municipal parking lots just before the railroad tracks. We are at the

bridge on the right side of the street.

 

May 1st – Special Olympics Lunch – Barnstable -  9:30 am (Parrot Points Awarded)

We are doing our Famous Cheeseburger & Hot dog Luncheon with all the fixing’s for about

1000 Special Olympic Athletes, coaches, and volunteers. To volunteer or for more information, contact Kelly Connerton at kellynpro@aol.com.

Barnstable High School 744 West Main Street Hyannis 

Go over the Sagamore Bridge onto Rt. 6. Take exit 6. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Rt. 132. Turn right onto Phinney’s Lane at the first set of lights. Turn right onto Rte 28, Falmouth Rd. Go about 100 ft and bear left onto West Main St.  Go straight through the first set of lights and the high school is a couple hundred feet down on the left.

We are flipping burgers again for about 1500 Special Olympics Athletes, coaches, and volunteers.

Rte 24, exit 17A (Rte 123 East) Follow about 1 mile. Turn right at Friendly’s Restaurant onto Angus Beaton Dr. and follow the road around to the stadium.

UPDATE Due to unforseen circumstances (and the fact that we are all volunteers with other full time jobs) - there has been some confusion about the Special Olympics games this weekend.

We will be cooking our Hall of Fame award winning cheeseburger lunch for over 500 athletes, coaches, and volunteers:

Rte 93, Exit 5B (Rte 28N). Follow Randolph Ave. North, through 4 traffic lights (do not turn at the fourth where Rte 28 turns off). At the 5th light, turn right on to Center Street. We will be assigned to different tasks based on what they need that day, we could be awarding medals or helping with food/concessions, or all of the above. Be ready for a fun time regardless. Meet Rick and Kelly at the "Special Olympic Volunteer Registration Tent" They will either be there waiting for you or will have information as to where the club is assigned.

We are dreadfully sorry for the confusion.

May 22nd – Buff Madison Memorial Dance – Gloucester – 7-11pm (Parrot Points Awarded)

Gloucester Fraternity Club. Webster Street. Dancing all night to Leo’s Classic Hits.

Tickets are $20 in advance and STRONGLY suggested to get in advance. Great raffles, etc.

Proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society and a memorial scholarship.

June 19th – Special Olympics Summer Games Dance, Boston University  (Parrot Points Awarded) We provide the Saturday night entertainment for the thousands of athletes at the

MA State Games. We’ll need volunteers to set up for the dance, chaperone, and then

help with cleanup. Set-up begins about 4pm, there will be dinner, and the dance is 7-9pm,

cleanup is quick. If you are available to help with this great event, please email Kelly Connerton at kellynpro@aol.com or contact Harriet Sesen at 617-699-0591 or hsesen@aol.com and let them know that you will be available. We know that this is concert weekend for some of you.

July 4th – Independence Day

 

 

July 10th - Harbor Cruise – Newburyport – 6 – 9:30pm (Parrot Points Awarded)

           The boat will be rockin – and I don’t just mean from the waves!!!  We set sail with Captain’s Fishing

           Parties, 10 82nd Street, Newburyport. Boarding begins at 6:00 and we will sail from 6:30-9:30m.

           Entertainment will be provided by Raymond Lee. Tickets are $25.

           After June 30th this event will be opened up to the 10 other New England Parrot

           Head Clubs, don’t delay. This boat fills up fast!

August 7th – Pan Mass Challenge Water Station – Wrentham (Parrot Points Awarded)

We will be water Parrot Heads for the cyclists that ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown,

192 miles over 2 Days, to raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. 

We need Parrothead Cheerleaders to help cheer on the riders at the Wrentham water stop.  Dress in your phinest parrothead attire.  Set up begins at 6:30am (sorry), and the first riders will arrive around 8:30am.  We will be finished with clean up around 11:30am.  For more info, or questions, please contact Diane Xenelis at 978-204-7571 or keywest4me2@yahoo.com.

August 21st - The Amazing Poker Run - Princeton, MA (Parrot Points Awarded)

Get ready to have some phun! We’ve taken a new spin on the road rally and added a few things! Get your team together and go from one location to the next completing tasks in order to get your next clue! But don’t hurry, this isn’t a speed race, it’s a poker run! Gather cards at each location to get a winning hand. Extra cards will be available to purchase with the money going to charity. Teams can be 2-6 people, with one person being the designated driver. There will be a party after the race at the “Pit Stop” (also known as Tonga Tam’s house!) including live music by our very own Island Castaways! Cost is $10 per person. Prizes awarded to the winning team. Proceeds to benefit PHIN Fund (Parroheads in need. Helping those who helped others).
