by Keith Kitchin The newest inductee into the PHCOEM Hall of fame is Al Mosier, also known as "Big Daddy". Al Mosier is one of the four original members of the Parrot Head Club of Eastern Mass. Al is a fine candidate for this honor and it is my pleasure to tell you a little bit about him and his involvement in the club. Al was first introduced to Jimmy Buffett in 1977 while playing in a band and his job was to learn Margaritaville. He purchased the Changes album. Buffett left his mind until 1988, when he had to relearn Margaritaville and purchased ‘Songs You Know By Heart.’ He really liked the music this time around and purchased the ‘Hot Water’ and then ‘Off to see the Lizard’ albums, and now has all the studio albums and a nice collection of rarities. Al attended his first Buffettconcert at Great woods in 1990 with Nick Cataggio. This was a lifestyle changing experience and he has not missed a year since. Al Mosier is one of the Four Founding Fathers of PHCOEM, along with Nick Cataggio, Phil Scibelli, and Jim Skerry. In 1992 Al was walking through the Great Woods parking lot with Nick and noticed some people wearing New Hampshire Parrot Head Club shirts and it stirred an interest and he began asking questions. The rest, as we know, is history and now he is in the Hall of Fame of the club that he helped found. Here are some of the fine contributions Al has brought to PHCOEM:
In the real world Al is an elementary music teacher at the same school I teach physical education at (small world). It truly is a great pleasure to work with someone who shares the same music interest and lifestyle. Al and I jam to Buffett tunes, share Buffett knowledge and stories, and wear Hawaiian shirts on Fridays. Al is a great phriend of mine and it is definitely an honor to have him alongside Bill and myself in the PHCOEM Hall of Phame. |
